The SANEA Annual General Meeting was held on 11 March 2010 and attended by some 50 members. Members were pleased with the growth in activities and the financial performance of SANEA. The current Board members were all re-elected and Dave Wright of Engen was elected to a vacant position on the Board. Dave is based in Cape Town and brings with him a wealth of experience in the energy sector.
The AGM was followed by the Annual Dinner, for members. At the dinner the SAIEE paid tribute to SANEA and presented SANEA with a certificate of recognition. 86 members enjoyed the evening of good friendship, food, drink and music.
Profile of Dave Wright
Currently the Director of Corporate Planning for Engen Ltd., Dave Wright has previously held two other General Manager/Director positions in Engen - that of Supply Chain and of HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality).
Trained as a chemical engineer, for the first 15 years of his professional life he was an academic in chemical engineering at the University of Natal in Durban (as it was then known).
In 1989/90 he left the academic life to work for Karbochem, running their Process Development group from Sasolburg. In 1991 he joined Engen at the refinery in Durban where he was the Technical Manager for 5 years before moving into strategy development for Engen in Cape Town.
Amongst other achievements, Dave was awarded the SANEA Education Award for 2008.
Dave is married to Carol and his interests include reading, music, photography, rambling and game viewing.
