The BMW Group is one of the most successful manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles in the world with its BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. As a global company, the BMW Group operates 24 production facilities in 13 countries and has a global sales network in more than 140 countries.
| BMW Plant Rosslyn: Plant Tour |
As part of this global network, BMW South Africa prides itself on world beating standards that have been reached and exceeded over three decades of involvement in South Africa. As the BMW Group's oldest subsidiary outside of Europe, BMW South Africa's outward-looking, global attitude is complemented by a thorough appreciation of the needs of the employees that have made the company what it is today.
The company is unique within the BMW Group representing a microscopic view of BMW AG, with a sales and marketing division, a production facility, and all administrative functions forming part of a single corporate entity.
In 1996 BMW's R1 billion investment in the Rosslyn Plant paved the way for the upgrade of the production facility into one of the most modern in the world. This earned the local plant the right to be known as "BMW World Plant Rosslyn".
An average of 50 000 BMW 3 Series sedans are produced at BMW Plant Rosslyn per annum, of which over 80% are directly destined for export markets - going to countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan and various others.
The Plant Tour at BMW Plant Rosslyn will give participants a comprehensive overview of the BMW production facility and processes.
