2010 is the year in which crucial decisions around the future of electricity supply will have to be made. These decisions will define the energy mix and players in the electricity sector by 2028. Any delays in making these decisions will force the country on a road which may affect its future competitiveness in the global economy and its ability to meet the aspirations of its citizens to affordable and sustainable energy and specifically electricity access.
This presentation will discuss these high level decisions, the enablers required to introduce independent power producers into the market to support Eskom's own efforts and the progress to date to putting into place these enablers and actually introducing IPPs.
